Zola Mae Fedor age 84 of Brooklyn, Michigan passed away suddenly Friday, January 17, 2025 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was born on December 31, 1940 in Muncie, Indiana to Chester & Gladys (Cowgill) Kirby. On October 20, 1962 she married Donald A. Fedor. They met while attending Ball State University and enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
She worked at libraries in Muncie, Indiana; Ann Arbor, and Saline, Michigan; spanning five decades. She also worked for many years as a receptionist for H & R Block. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for more than 60 years. She enjoyed rollerskating from her teens and even into her sixties with her grandchildren. As an adult she was an avid bowler, as a member of leagues in Ann Arbor, Milan, and Saline, Michigan.
More than anything, she loved spending time and laughing with family, friends, coworkers, and those who came to be like family. Judy Bahnmiller in particular was her dear friend of 50 years and grew to be more like a sister. For the past twenty years she and Don have enjoyed winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. She and Don traveled to Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand, all of the National Parks in the Continental US, and all fifty states. They enjoyed their 50th anniversary in Hawaii, this was their 50th state to visit together. In retirement she enjoyed water aerobics, playing euchre and cribbage, reading, completing jigsaw puzzles, and continuing to travel. As recently as October 2024 she and Don visited Yellowstone National Park and Dinosaur National Monument, which she said was her favorite National Monument.
In addition to her husband, Don, she is survived by her children, Michael (Gwen) Fedor of Tecumseh, Michigan; Larissa (Ronald) Tindall of Manchester, Michigan; Letitia (Eric) Boyd of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Grandchildren, Kaitlin (Troy) Harbin, Nicholas (Shelby) Tindall, Heather Boyd, and Alexander Boyd, and one Great Grandchild, Calvin Harbin.
She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Gladys (Cowgill) Kirby and her siblings, Jama (William) Montgomery, Chester (Pat) Kirby, Glynda (Forrest) Martin.
Services will be held in Michigan at a later date.
