Zaidee Chatham Galloney passed away peacefully August 9, 2020 surrounded by family and friends at her home in Montrose, AL. She was born in Newton, Mississippi in 1936, and graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education with minors in music and art. She met the love of her life at Pensacola Beach, a young naval aviator named Frank. Zaidee had a deep love for music, travel, bridge, French hand sewing, flower arranging and her many social organizations. She was the consummate hostess who enjoyed organizing and throwing events and parties. She was a founding member of the Junior Auxiliary of the Eastern Shore, the Montrose Garden Club, the Montrose Historic Preservation Society, and St. Paul’s original Thrift Shop. She was also a member of the Ecor Rouge Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons, FaHera, and the altar guild of St. James Church. She was the dedicated and beloved wife of Frank Hutchinson Galloney III for over 62 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Frank Hutchinson Galloney IV (partner Kim), Claire Galloney Bernot (Michael) of Atlanta, Thomas Rogers Galloney (Robin) and two grandchildren Taylor Andrew Bernot and Hutchinson Reese Bernot. Preceding her in death were her parents John Graham Chatham and Bernice Houston Chatham of Mobile, her daughter-in-law Suzanne Hall Galloney, and a beloved first cousin Barbara Houston McCollum of Denver Colorado. A private graveside service will be held in Montrose. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shepherd’s Place Foundation P.O. Box 1281 Fairhope, AL 36533.
