Yvonne Veronica Collins Stump died peacefully on April 11, 2021 in the care of her children at Houston Hospice. She was born February 21, 1938 in Magnolia Springs, AL to Liston and Vivian Collins. She was married in 1962 to Leslie Arthur Stump who preceded her in death in 2003. Her brother, Jerome Collins, and her sister, Juanita Dolihite, as well as several beloved brothers-in-law, also preceded her in death. Yvonne is survived by her children Lisa Murphy (Don), Rita Fiala (Art), Gina Stump (Randa), and Eric Stump (Donna); her siblings Cleo Wheaton, Dawn Collins (JoAnn), Evelyn Weeks, Larry Collins, Allen Collins (Denise), Lucille Doffee (Danny), and Phyllis Collins; a large extended family including April Pepper and "the girl with the glasses" as well as many friends and Godchildren; and her dog, Wheeler. Yvonne was Mam-Maw to Logan, Kayla (Nate), Erin (12-25-93), Veronica (Casey), Vivian, Conner, Aiden, Austin, Tallon, Elijah, and Nova Yvonne. She was known as Aunt Vonnie to most everyone else, whether they were related or not. A vibrant woman, who lit up every room with her beautiful smile, she welcomed everyone into her home and family with open arms. And there wasn't a baby born that she didn't love. Yvonne, a lifelong Catholic, had an unwavering faith and belief in the power of prayer. She took great comfort in the Holy Rosary prayers and always kept her rosary close at hand. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Magnolia Springs, AL. From her work with the Ladies Sodality to the annual lawn party, she was always ready to serve the Lord through works of the church. A creative woman, Yvonne had many passions, such as reading, sewing, crafting, gardening, and especially cooking. She put her heart and soul into her cooking. When you ate anything prepared by her, you could taste the love. She was known far and wide for her seafood gumbo, corned beef hash, and sweet rolls. She also had a deep love of family and living on Magnolia River, alongside some of her siblings. She spent countless hours fishing, crabbing, and trying to catch turtles. Yvonne was a wonderful, loving soul with a big personality, and though she is deeply missed, it is our joy to know she is with God and dancing in heaven with Les, the love of her life. A funeral Mass and burial will be held Saturday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10800 St Johns Ln, Foley, AL 36535 with a luncheon to follow. Please wear a mask in the church.
