William "Willie" Henry Burmeister, a lifelong resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 92.
Willie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. As a 1950 graduate of Fairhope High School, he was a member of the "Nifty Fifties" group. Willie was a career farmer and an avid hunter. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean era. He also was a beloved and faithful charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Daphne, AL.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie McKenzie Burmeister; brother, Fred T. "Fritz" Burmeister; and sister, Viola "Vi" Johnston.
Willie is survived by his sons, William "Billy" (Kim) Burmeister of Fairhope and Ronald "Ronnie" (Tania) Burmeister of Hazlehurst, MS; daughter, Katrina (Doug) Schonemann of Fairhope; grandchildren, Peter (Amy) Burmeister, Peyton Smith, Tara Cantrell, Roger (Allison) Schonemann, Shelby (SSgt. Joe) Thomas, and Mackenzie Burmeister; nine great grandchildren; sister, Gloria (Bobby) Davis; and many other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 3 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Daphne, with Pastor Richard H. Mueller officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 pm at Holy Trinity. Interment will follow service at Memorial Gardens in Fairhope.
