Slade Lindsay passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.
Slade was a beloved husband, father, and friend. He grew up in Birmingham, AL, with his brothers Jimbo and Robert. Slade attended Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and left before graduation to help run the family business. Slade met his future wife, Nancy, on the beach in Gulf Shores. After they were married in 1985, Slade and Nancy raised their three daughters while simultaneously founding and running multiple family-owned businesses. Slade worked in the telecommunications industry for his entire career. He was a gifted businessman who truly enjoyed thinking outside the box and problem solving.
Slade was his own person in a way that most can only hope to be. He believed rules existed to be challenged, if not broken outright. No topic of conversation was off limits—he delighted in bringing up hot-button issues “all in good fun,” as he would often say. He constantly challenged those around him, both loved ones and passersby, to think unconventionally. Slade loved golfing, fishing, and a glass of red wine or Goose on the rocks. His favorite place in the world was Destin, FL, where he and Nancy spent the majority of their time. Slade was a man of God and a Believer, who would sometimes reference talking to God as casually as others might mention encountering a neighbor. Though he was taken too soon, his family finds comfort in God’s promise that they will one day be reunited.
Slade is survived by his wife, Nancy Finley Lindsay; daughters, Samantha (Drew) Hawk, Ellen Lindsay, and Jenni (Matt) Hollis; son Nicholas (Stephanie) Lindsay; grandchildren, Anderson Slade Hollis, Brooks Finley Hollis, Ellie Nicole Lindsay, and Oliver Thomas Lindsay; brothers, James Lindsay and Robert Lindsay; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at East Pointe Baptist Church in Spanish Fort. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Jubilee Memorial Gardens in Daphne.
