William Douglas “Doug” Jones, 74, a native Mobilian and resident of Daphne passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
A member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Doug was a devoted Catholic and family man. Nothing meant more to him than his family, and he loved the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. An excellent salesman, Doug loved working for Hunter Security and spent 33 years there before retiring in March. When not working or spending time with his family, Doug enjoyed golf, playing pool and eating at the East Shore Cafe. Doug will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, for his warm smile and his unforgettable laugh, and for the countless ways he impacted our lives and the lives around him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Louise R. Jones of Daphne; sons, Doug (Amanda) Jones of Daphne, Chris (Janelle) Jones of Daphne, John (Lydia) Jones of Bromley, Stephen (Dana) Jones of Mobile, Matthew (Lisa) Jones of Cantonment, FL; daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Kevin) Wentworth of Daphne; 11 grandchildren; sister, Diane Tomberlin of Mobile; many other loving relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Interment to follow at Belforest Catholic Cemetery in Daphne with a luncheon to follow at Christ the King.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Christ the King Catholic School tuition assistance program.
