William Lee Carroll

d. January 13, 2021

William Lee Carroll, a native of Louisville, Kentucky and a longtime resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the age of 61. Bill Carroll enlisted in the United States Navy in 1983 where he was assigned to the USS Iowa BB-61 Battleship as a Hull Maintenance Technician. He was later promoted to and retired as a Damage Control Central Watch Supervisor as an E-4 in 1992. He re-enlisted into the Navy Seabees as a Steel Worker in 2001 and was called to active duty in 2007. He did one tour in Afghanistan as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle. He retired from the US Navy as a First Class Petty Officer SW1 in 2012. He joined the Mobile Fire and Rescue Department in 1990 where he served for 23 years during which he was promoted to Driver and then Captain of Fire Station # 12 by the time he retired in 2013. Through all his accomplishments he never strayed away from what was important to him. He was a man of faith and an active member in South River Park Church of God. He never met a stranger and was a mentor to many. He had an amazing smile, contagious laugh and was courageous, kind, patient, and gentle. He could build or fix anything; a perfectionist always working with his hands. He was a devoted husband to Kristina Diane Carroll for 25 years, and a dedicated father, uncle, brother, and friend. He cherished his morning coffee breaks with his great-niece, Norah almost as much as he cherished Norah herself. His love for his family was transcendent and he made sure his children knew how proud he was. He never missed a soccer game, school function, band or dance recital. His dream was to watch them grow up and see his grandchildren run around his house, just as his children did before them. His family and friends will always remember his laughter, wisdom, and words of inspiration. He will truly be missed. Heaven, how lucky you are. William Carroll is survived by his wife, Kristina Caswell Carroll; children, Felicia Carroll Rogers (Kelly Leonard Rogers), Lacey Maria Carroll, Jacob Foster Carroll, Savannah Kristina Carroll, and Serena Ann Carroll; siblings, Philip Smitha, James Carroll, Tracy Carroll, GaTonya Carroll Baker; mother, Loretta Pruitt Carroll; nieces and nephews, Philip Lewis Caswell, III, Charles Cortland Caswell, Samantha Shea Caswell Lipscomb, Tracy Don Carroll Jr., Cory Ray Baker, Lexi Cheyenne Caswell, Kyle Lee Baker, Kaitlyn Jordan McIntosh Williams, Zachary Macdonald Caswell, Macy Ann Baker Johnson, Cristen Grace Caswell, and Cade Thomas Caswell; and his great-nieces, Elleahna Cadence Duran Lipscomb, Norah Shea Lipscomb, Gabriella Angel Jojola, Tommi Lynn Johnson; and many other family members and friends. A Celebration of William’s life will be held at South River Park Church of God in Fairhope, AL on January 30, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.
