William "Bill" Baxter Wallace, Jr.

d. June 23, 2023

William "Bill" Baxter Wallace, Jr, 73, joined the big meeting in the sky on June 23, 2023. Born on June 16, 1951, in Decatur, Illinois, the oldest child of Bill Sr. and Audrey Agar Wallace, he moved around the country from Illinois to Massachusetts to Washington State with his family. As a child he showed early enjoyment of tinkering with things: fixing radios and building tree forts for his oldest brother. He also enjoyed tormenting his oldest sister. After he graduated high school, he settled in Washington State and in 1974 he married Marji Meconis, the mother of his only child, and they parted ways in 1980. This was a time of extreme merriment and many of the stories from this era, both good and not-so-good, are not really suitable for printing here. Those memories shall remain hazy, if you catch my drift. In 1990 he found a new friend in Bill W. and began a life of sobriety that took him right to the end. He found his calling doing acts of service and sponsoring folks and spreading meetings to the penal system and then in later years, around lower Alabama and the surrounding areas. A lifelong tinkerer and mechanical engineer, he would work on anything with a motor, motherboard, and/or circuit breaker. He started with boats and radar, went to King County Metro until retirement, then started his own train signal servicing company while retired. Dating back to the mid-90s, he created sound systems for Area groups and meetings that are still in use today. Always a cool dude, his newest project involved lights that pulse to music. He moved to Summerdale, Alabama in 2016 and continued his fellowship and service in AA there, after having visited his parents and becoming acquainted with the folks and members. He fell in love with the country and the people and it's safe to say the people fell in love with him too. He also became a valued member of the local methodist church, Marlow United, where he tinkered around the building, set up sound systems, and helped run the fish fries. In his later years he was a doting father and father-in-law, but his best moments were reserved for his grandchildren, of whom he was the world's proudest Papa. He leaves his daughter, Jennifer Lynn and husband John English along with beloved grandchildren Jolie Marina and Julian Isaac, all of Oceanside, NY; siblings Pete Wallace of Washington State; Debbie (Lee) Dise of Virginia; Christopher (Kathy) Wallace of California, Andrew (Rhonda) Wallace of California; Beth Wallace of California, and a niece and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Marlow United Methodist Church in Summerdale, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marlow United Methodist Church. ARRANGEMENTS BY WOLFE-BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, INC. 19698 GREENO RD. FAIRHOPE AL. 36532 (251) 990-7775
