Will Darsey Carlton, Sr., a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the age of 85. He was born in Grapeland, TX. He was a US Navy veteran. He served on the USS Uvalde AKA 88 from 1955 – 1959 and on the USS Lafayette SSBN-616 from 1962- 1969. His accomplishments include the Paul Harris fellow from The Rotary International, Flying Colonel of the Delta Fleet, Fairhope Volunteer of the year 2014, and received a letter of commendation from the US Atlantic and Fleet for saving a child that was drowning. Will is survived by his children, Will D. Carlton, Jr. (Terri) of Fairhope, AL, Ronald H. Carlton (Janice) of Houston, TX and Bryan Doug Carlton (Julie) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Chase Carlton (Betsy), Mackenzie Chandler (Chase), Charlie Carlton (Susan), Bryan Carlton (Erin), Blake Carlton (Samantha) and Drew Carlton (Kristi); great grandchildren, Reese, Henley, Knox, Ella, Brayden, Kylee, Adelyn, Evelyn, Brooklyn, James, Stella, Nicholas and Eila; brother, Eugene Carlton (Bette) of Houston, TX; other relatives and friends. A celebration of Will’s life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort.
