William Ray Stanton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 15, 2022. Ray grew up in Monroe County Alabama. He was a graduate of Monroe County High School. Ray has called Mobile and Baldwin County his home since 1961. In his early years, Ray was Credit Manager at Sherwin-Williams paint. Ray’s chosen profession was the Life Insurance business. For 25 years, Ray worked with Liberty National Life Insurance.
The last many years Ray has resided with his devoted wife Bettye Joyce Garvin Stanton at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort. Ray enjoyed his work with flowers and gardening making his apartment grounds and surrounding areas a showplace of God’s creation. Ray and Betty are active members of Eastern Shore Baptist Church. Ray is preceded in death by wives Eleanor Stanton and Shirley Ann Stanton, daughter Melanie, and parents Morgan and Esther Stanton.
Much appreciation to the services of RT Caregiver Ministries of Mobile; Mobile Infirmary 4th floor; SAAD Inpatient Hospice; and the church staff and members of Eastern Shore Baptist Church.
Ray requested in lieu of flowers donations to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital PO Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101-9929. Funeral Service will be held at Eastern Shore Baptist Church, with Dr. Stuart Davidson presiding, on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 2:00 pm. Family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow at Jubilee Memorial Gardens.
