Welton (Bud) Hance was an individual of great humility in his accomplishments. He impacted those around him in ways that he could never have imagined. Born in 1922, Welton (Bud) Hance was 100 years of age when he passed on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Welton and his wife Wilma had just celebrated their 15-year anniversary just two days before.
Welton joined the US Marine Corps on December 10, 1941 and was officially sworn in on December 17, 1941. He served during World War II with the First Marine Division in Guadalcanal in 1942, New Britain, which is the largest island of the Bismarck Archipelago in Papua New Guinea and fought from September – November 1944 during the Battle of Pelelui.
He was discharged in 1945 but was recalled to duty in 1950 for the Korean War.
Welton leaves behind his wife, Wilma Hance, and 4 children, Susan, Chris, Julia, and Pat, as well as an array of friends and other family members who grieve the loss of this pure soul.
