Wanda Carol Strickland Lewis, a resident of Point Clear, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the age of 83.
Wanda was a graduate of Vigor High School in Prichard. She also graduated from Judson Women’s College in Marion, AL in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree of Art. She then went on to receive her master’s degree in social work from the University of Alabama in 1994. She worked for the State of Alabama as the Director of Human Resources in Bibb County, AL.
She was an avid gardener; she loved reading and was a devoted wife and mother.
She was a member of St. Francis of the Point Anglican Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Alga and Bernice Strickland.
She is survived by her husband, LTC. Col. Carlos Lewis Sr. of Point Clear; son, Carlos Lewis Jr. also of Point Clear; daughter, Kim M. Grimes of Freeport, Florida; sisters, Judy Wright of Wilmington, NC and Debbie Sheffield (Allan) of Gulf Shores; along with numerous relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Alabama State Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 11:00am.
The family will have a memorial service at St. Francis at the Point Church at a later date.
To honor Wanda’s memory, donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to St. Francis at the Point.
