Virgil Lindsey, 83, of Robertsdale AL passed away peacefully with his family and his beloved and loyal dog Addie by his side, Friday, June 2, 2023. Early that morning he had his final call here on earth and heaven gained a new responder that served the citizens of Huggers Landing, Oyster Bay Fire Department as Chief for 25 years.
Virgil and his wife Elva were married just 4 days short of 59 years. They resided in Oyster Bay for the majority of their marriage. In 2005 they moved off the river out into the country in Robertsdale where they resided until his passing.
Virgil was a custom boat carpenter for 40 years. After his retirement, he and his wife Elva had a grand adventure delivering travel trailers and traveling all over the United States.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard Dennis Lindsey and Ola Mae Weaver Lindsey. His older brother Claude (Maxine) Lindsey and his older sister Melba Lindsey Latkanich.
He is survived by his wife Elva Lindsey; daughter Virginia (Ginger) Wilson (Herman); brother Vernon Lindsey; sister Margaret Wilson (Jim Thompson) and Eunice Brookhart (Mike); granddaughters, Lindsey Jordan (Ryan) Percharka, Katelyn (Ronnie) Jordan, Cort Jordan, Bryson Jordan, and Lola Sherman; step grandchildren Bradley Wilson, Caitlin Wilson (Dillon) Jaynes, Aiden Percharka, Emmalyn Wilson, Emmerson Parker, Gannon Booth, Ensley Jaynes, and Ellie Jaynes; many nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a simple man with a big heart and a silent witness to many. He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 9, 2023 at Oyster Bay Baptist Church, Gulf Shores. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Oyster Bay Cemetery.
