Violet Maxine Welsh

Violet Maxine Callaway Welsh was born on October 15, 1934 in Gulf Shores, Alabama to Eugene Callaway and Violet Wallace Callaway.  She passed away, Thursday, June 23, 2022.

Maxine married her high school sweetheart, Roy Welsh on May 23, 1952.  While he was serving in the US Air Force, they traveled all over the world for 20 years.  She was a secretary for an insurance company for 5 years in San Francisco, CA where they made their first home.  After Michael was born in CA, she left work and stayed home as mom for the next 16 years. Rick was born in Tokyo, Japan, and Darlene in Peshwar, Pakistan. The family returned to Foley, AL on Sept. 3, 1971 when Roy retired.

Maxine became a member of First Baptist Church, Foley and served faithfully as a teacher, choir member, on many committees and most recently as a visitor to our shut-ins.  She loved her church and its members faithfully attended. 

She also went to work as a school secretary at Elberta School on Aug. 1, 1973 and served until Nov 1994.  She loved her job and all of the students and faculty.  She loved to travel and took many trips and cruises with the travel club.  She said that she had a very blessed life and praised the Lord for that he blessed her with.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Roy H. Welsh; her sisters, Alma Coley Kellam, Mildred Owen and Imogene Shaw and their spouses.   

She leaves behind her children Michael Edward (Sharon)Welsh, Richard Eugene Welsh and Darlene Elain (Greg) Ashe; grandchildren, Kevin and Amanda Welsh, Julie and Sage Dombroski, Taylor and Kristen Ashe; great-grandchildren, Braxton Welsh, Kennedy Welsh, Colton and Avery Dombroski; numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Foley.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park, Foley.
