Vera Gilles

Vera Gilles, born on August 24, 1933 in Eureka, South Dakota passed away in Fairhope, Alabama on Sunday, February 04, 2024 at the age of 90.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Saraphine Kolbe; her three brothers; and two sisters.
Vera married Robert Gilles in 1952 and from this union she leaves two beautiful daughters, Linda Hoyle (Glenn) of Alabaster, Alabama; and Sally Deane of Fairhope, Alabama; and two lovely sons, Robert Gilles (Alice) of Santa Cruz, California; and David Gilles (Heidi) of San Jose, California; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and one on the way; as well as many other family members and friends.
Vera lived in California fifty years before moving to Fairhope in 2011 to live with her daughter Sally.
Vera loved her family, friends and her dogs. She also loved eating Mexican food and living life her way. She came to love her adopted home of Fairhope and all the people she came to know. We will miss her spirit of fun and adventures.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11:00am at Trinity Presbyterian Church. A reception will be held afterwards in the Social Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Haven or Ecumenical Ministries.
