Vance Edward McCrory of Fairhope, Alabama, died on November 28, 2023. He was 82. He is survived by his brother Gary, son Davis, daughter Beth (Ken) Robbins, and sons Bart (Ginny) and Daniel (Lauren), and grandchildren Kendra and Lauren Robbins, Virginia and Ward McCrory, and Maris, Davis, Mac, Norah, and Amos McCrory, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Davis McCrory, mother Louise White McCrory, brothers Billy and Bruce McCrory, and his wife of 57 years and love of his life, Judy Diane McCrory. Vance was born on October 8, 1941, and grew up in Frisco City, Alabama. He graduated from The University of Alabama with a B.S in biology and physical education, and obtained a masters degrees in secondary education and administration from Troy University. Vance was a teacher, coach and principal for 40 years in Mobile, Monroe, and Baldwin counties. This included being the head coach at IMS, Monroe Academy, and Frisco City High School, and principal at Frisco City, Summerdale School and the South Baldwin Center for Technology. Over the years Vance attended Sage Avenue Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Frisco City, First Baptist Church of Fairhope, and 3 Circle Church. Vance loved coaching and the lifelong relationships he formed with his players. He was a runner for many years, completing 10-K’s, marathons, and triathlons, and later enjoyed playing pickleball. His favorite activities were spending time with his wife Judy and his 9 grandchildren, who all loved and cherished their Pop.
