HOUSTON, TXTina Lynn Thomas Ridge , age 48, a resident of Houston, TX, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017. Glue. Tina Thomas had the uncanny ability to bring together a mixture of souls and be the adhesive to maintain friendships. Her rare gift kept people engaged and connected in person and online. She made people happy and eager to see her dry wit and way with words, amusing snippets delivered with precision and the right heft of sweet sarcasm. The lady loved a good bite to eat. One day it would be four friends at Ben’s BBQ while the next at Shux on the Pier. If you were lucky, you met her at Buck’s Diner with the mayor so she can steal your corn fritters. Tina was a rock to those with insomnia, broken hearts, illnesses, and basic self-inflicted life tragedies. Countless friends depended on her to be the voice of reason to otherwise sweet sentiments that had the propensity of going sideways. Tina loved Fairhope, Alabama second only to her husband, Stephen, her daughter, Jessica, and her beloved grandson, Gabriel, who she affectionately called Sweet Pea. Tina’s best days were walking on the beach at the Thomas family home looking for treasures with her grandson until the sun set over Mobile Bay. She was passionate about her huge family and proud of the name her parents had made for the family on the Eastern Shore. Social media will never be the same as everyone enjoyed the many travels Stephen and Tina found themselves discovering. From a post office in North Dakota to the Savannah in Africa, this world travelling free spirit will be missed incredibly. Tina is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thomas; brothers, Michael Thomas and Boots Thomas. She is survived by her husband, Stephen D. Ridge; daughter, Jessica West; grandson, Gabriel Guerva , all of Houston, TX; sisters, Kista Dorgan of Fairhope, AL and Karin Behl of Auburn, IL; brothers, Thorn Thomas of Fairhope, AL and Daniel Thomas of Charlotte, NC; many other loving relatives and friends. A Celebration of Tina’s Life will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. The family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service.
