TAUL Mr. Thomas McRae Taul, III. - born and longtime resident of Mobile, AL died Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his home in Fairhope. Tom attended University Military School, The University of Alabama where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, and Cumberland Law School. After practicing law for 12 years, Tom took a position at his families business, Merchants Transfer Company, holding the office of CEO for the past 20 years. Tom was a long time member of Ashland Place United Methodist Church and loved his couples Bible Study and small group. He was a dedicated member of the Outback Men’s Group in Mobile and later in Fairhope rarely missing their morning meetings. Tom, an avid outdoorsman, grew up spending his summers fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and working at the Dauphin Island Marina. He loved time spent with friends chasing speckled trout, blue marlin, wild hogs, squirrels, spoon bills and white perch. Tom was passionate about scuba diving with his wife Susan, and they shared many great adventures diving together around the world. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ellis Taul & Thomas M. Taul, Jr. Tom was a caring and dedicated family man. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them swim and play in Mobile Bay. His survivors include his loving wife Susan of 46 years and three children, Thomas M. Taul IV (Katie), Mary Burke Taul Sousa (Joe), Benjamin W. Taul (Nonie); one brother, F. Ellis Taul (Cathy); six grandchildren: Mae Taul, Thomas M. Taul V, Joseph Sousa, Annie Taul, Lillibet Taul, Sunny Taul; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. with the service following at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Fairhope United Methodist Church. All are invited to a celebration of Tom’s life immediately following at Tom and Susan’s home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Outback America (jhoutback.com), the American Cancer Society (cancer.org), Prichard Preparatory School (prichardprepschool.com) or to one's favorite charity.
