Thomas Michael Shaffer, 46 went to be with our Lord on Monday, September 27th, 2021. He and his wife, Laura, were married for 25 years and they had four children, Alyssa (16), Tyler (13), Cayden (12) and Austin (6). Tom grew up in Scottsdale, AZ and attended Masters Commission in Rockford, IL where he earned his pastoral license. Tom and Laura married on September 7th, 1996. He served the Lord in many capacities, including Masters Commission Director, Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, Church Planter, and Lead Pastor. He also owned his own automotive business, worked at UPS, and worked in various other capacities. He earned his Associates Degree in business this past March. Tom always brought joy and energy into every room he walked into. He could make friends with anyone. He had a way of making people feel comfortable and loved instantly. He always made people laugh and was extremely outgoing. Tom’s love for God was contagious and he talked about the Lord with anyone who would listen. Tom’s family was his greatest joy. He was an absolutely amazing dad to his four children. He was a strong, loving role model. He not only taught his children to love God, but he showed them how with his actions. Tom’s heart was with his family and he was truly devoted to them. Tom was a committed, loving husband, a devoted father and a loyal friend to all. He was such a hard worker and a very persistent person. He was very handy and could fix almost anything. He enjoyed playing golf, hiking, serving at church, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing sports and coaching his kids' sports teams. He also liked to watch Alabama football games and the Arizona Cardinals. Tom is survived by his wife of 25 years, Laura Shaffer, his daughter Alyssa, his three sons, Tyler, Cayden and Austin, parents Wesley and Beverly and brother Wes. The family will receive friends 4:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Anchor Point Church, 20511 County Road 12 South, Foley, AL 36535. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM.
