Thomas Malbis

d. May 10, 2020

Thomas Glen Malbis, age 84, a proud native of Malbis, AL and a resident of Orange Beach, AL passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at his residence among his most treasured views—an evening on Terry Cove. “Pops” Malbis served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force in the 1950s and 1960s. Following his active duty time as a Marine he arrived home in Malbis, AL where he later served as President of Malbis Plantation, President of the Malbis Memorial Foundation and was employed with Scott Paper Company for thirty-two years. He was widely known for quickly making everyone feel as if they had known him their whole lives. One left his presence simply proud to be blessed with living the American Dream. He certainly lived it. He is preceded in death by a brother, George Malbis, but survived in a very full life by three sons, Michael (Gina) Malbis, John (Deanna) Malbis and Steve Malbis all of Orange Beach, AL; beloved "Tom Tom" to Hap (Cecilia) Archer, Brandy (Jay Jay) Archer, Sjon (Jamey) Harless, Jon Archer, Katie (Bryan) Watts, Hannah (Trey) Burbic, Mallory (Trevor) Thomas, Bowman Archer, Trip Harless, Hope Harless; special friend for over 25 years, Oliveth Archer; and so many other relatives and friends he influenced along his journey. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Malbis Memorial Church. We regret that CoVID-19 precautions restrict this funeral to a limited number of invited family. We plan to broadcast the ceremony on Facebook Live and have an audio visual feed outside of the church. The lives Tommy touched far outnumber pews available in any church so as Alabama emerges from this crisis we will plan a celebration of his life on a scale worthy of his love for us all. Interment will follow in Malbis Memorial Cemetery
