Thomas Martin Hogan was born in Chicago on May 10, 1939 and lived there and loved it until 2007 when he relocated to Fairhope. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Martin Hogan, his mother, Irene Burke Hogan, his brother, James, and his nephew, Daniel. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Joanne; brother, Robert (Fran); children, Rachel Caracci, Martin (Aliceanne) Hogan, Mary (Mark) Borsos, Laura Thompson; grandchildren Katherine Caracci, Liam and Roisin Hogan-Trotter, Keira Borsos, nieces and nephews, Colleen (Mikal) Milks, Michael (Melissa) Hogan, Robyn (Tony) Arastoozad; sister-in-law is Nancy Glass. Tom attended St. Andrew Catholic School. He graduated Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary, DePaul University, and DePaul Law School, where he was the Editor of the Law Review. He loved his thirty-five year career as a Family Law attorney. Tom was a voracious reader and life-long learner, who enjoyed the study of theology, philosophy, and politics. He completed the four year Basic Program of Liberal Education for Adults at The University of Chicago in 1995. Tom treasured his prayer life, his studies, and his solitude. Tom was a proud North Sider and Chicago Cubs fan. He enthusiastically embraced SEC college football, declaring his support for the University of Alabama, upon his arrival in Fairhope fourteen years ago. Tom loved the State of Alabama and could see no good reason to leave it, except for several trips back to Chicago for family gatherings. Tom loved his Dachshund Angels, Annie Bananie and Daemon, and his greatly missed by Dixie Jo, Erika, and Bubba II. The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Wittmer and Saad Hospice of Mobile for their excellent care and many friends and neighbors for their support.
