Fairhope

Thomas “Tom” Henry Christiansen, age 69, of Fairhope, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at home surrounded by family.  Tom was born on December 7, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama.  He attended Murphy High School and then graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a BS in Psychology.  He later earned his master’s degree in education from the University of South Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his parents Boyce and Julia Christiansen, brother Boyce Christiansen, Jr, and sister Carol Ann Hyde.  He is survived by his loving wife Wanda Christiansen, daughter Katie Neese (Michael), and granddaughter Virginia Anne Neese of Fairhope, Alabama; sisters Kathy Petrone of Belaire, Maryland, and Lucy Rhoades of Binghamton, New York; sister-in-law Charlene Christiansen, of Madison, Alabama.

Tom was a devout Catholic.  He was a devoted husband and father.  He grew up on Mobile Bay and spent many days at the bay house teaching Katie and a host of nieces and nephews how to swim, sail, kayak, how to build a bonfire and his love for the bay. Tom loved Mardi Gras and was a member of the Crewe of Columbus in Mobile for many years.  He had immense joy sharing the Mardi Gras experience with family and friends.

Tom will be missed but never forgotten. He left a legacy of love and laughter that will echo through our minds and hearts forever.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph’s Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of their choice.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
