Thomas Lee Carmichael passed away on February 22, 2019. He was born to Thomas Lyerly Carmichael and Ruby Lee Carmichael on March 20, 1945. Tom enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1964. He served two years on the USS North Hampton CC1, the presidential command ship. He moved to the 2nd Marine Division and served at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He fought and was wounded in the Battle of Huê, received a Purple Heart, after medical attention, was sent home. He was discharged from the Marines as a Sergeant. Tom was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He retired from Southeastern Louisiana University Police as a sergeant with 10 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents. Tom is survived by his wife Linda Carmichael, who loves him dearly; two daughters, Michelle Lee Carmichael, Anna Lisa Carmichael; son, Thomas Lyerly Carmichael; two faithful companions, Topper and Lady Wiggle. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Spanish Fort Church of Christ. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
