CHAVERS FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA Thelma Louise Brown Chavers born January 20, 1924 in Millry, AL and passed on November 18, 2021 in Fairhope, AL. Thelma was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a current member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women for over 50 years. She was an avid golfer for 30 years, playing from age 50 to 80. Her family’s nickname by nieces and nephews was Tebbie and she was called Poppie by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Frank Chavers, on November 2, 2008, an infant daughter, Holly Jane and a daughter-in-law, Linda Huxford Chavers. She was also preceded in death by sibilings John Isham Brown (Louise), Sally Jordan (Fred), Theason Brown (Frances), Jake Brown (Juanita), Lamar Brown (Joy), and Ted Brown. She is survived by one sister, of 8 siblings, Margie Huxford of Brewton, AL and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Brown of Millry, AL. A son, Jim Chavers of Spanish Fort, AL, one daughter, Renee Chavers of Fairhope, AL. Two granddaughters and 2 grandsons. Ashley and (John) Callery of Oxford, MS., Alice and (Graham) Baker of Fairhope, AL, Christopher Hughes of Asheville, NC, Brown Hughes and (Carly Nairn) of San Francisco, CA, Porter and Miller Callery, Clay, Noah, Olivia, Camille and Stephen Baker. Poppie left a legacy of love to all who knew her. She was a beautiful force of nature for 97 years and 10 months. The family would like to thank Dr. Ann Pearson, Director of Caring Ministries at Fairhope United Methodist Church, for her prayers and support especially within the last two months.
