Susan King Strasinger, 82, passed away in Foley, Alabama on August 11, 2021. She was born on July 2, 1939 in Boston, MA to Dr. Francis and Dorothy King. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Howard “Harry” Strasinger. Susan spent most of her childhood in Derry, NH. After graduating from high school, she went to the University of Maine and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in medical technology. She later studied at Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University and received her Master of Science degree. She went on to earn her Doctor of Arts degree from The Catholic University of America. She loved to teach students about medical technology. For many years she was the Director of the Medical Laboratory Technician Program at Northern Virginia Community College. After Susan and Harry retired they moved to Orange Beach, AL. Although the condo on the beach was lovely, Susan couldn’t stay away from working. She became an adjunct professor in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program at University of West Florida in Pensacola. In her “spare time” she co-authored seven books with her friend and colleague, Marjorie Schaub DiLorenzo. Susan was also part of The Sirens of the Sea Mardi Gras Society. The membership is made up of women interested in business and civic affairs who like to have fun. Susan certainly liked to have fun. Susan is survived by her brother, Bruce King (Linda), brother, Richard Barbaro (Ann), brother, Phil Barbaro (Shari) and a host of nieces and nephews. There will be a private service for the family at a later date.
