Susan Gilliam McAlpine

Susan Gilliam McAlpine, age 61, of Daphne, AL, passed to her heavenly home in August 28, 2019. Susan was born in Sewanee, TN on November 4, 1957 the daughter of the late George and Louise Turner Gilliam.  She was a graduate of Haleyville High School in Alabama and The University of Alabama.  She was an avid gardener, painter and animal lover. Susan was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Daphne Art Guild where many of her art works hung.  Her family will remember her many gifts of kindness and her brilliant smile.  Susan is preceded in death by her brother, Gary Lee Gilliam; grandparents, George and Rainey Gilliam and Ben and Mable Turner; brother-in-law, Frank "Mac" McAlpine, Jr., and niece Misty Elizabeth Romine.  She is survived by her loving husband, Davis A. (Dave) McAlpine of Daphne; daughter, Jessica Lynn McAlpine (Michael McIver) of  Daphne; sister-in-law, Beth Hughes McAlpine of Haleyville, Al; niece, Misty Gilliam (Shane) Hughes of Winfield, Al.; nephews, Nathan Gilliam, Will Hughes (Christie Lee) Romine, Frank "Wyn" McAlpine, IV and Charles Scott McAlpine of Haleyville; special friend, Wanda Smith of Cowan, TN., and constant canine companion her beloved Belle, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation with family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 6-8:00 PM at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. A celebration of life will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., along with burial of cremains, at the Pavilion at Monteagle Cemetery, in Monteagle, TN.
