Stewart McLaurin

Stewart Parnell McLaurin passed away on January 21, 2021 in Foley, Alabama at the age of 89. He was born in Durham, North Carolina on June 16, 1931 to Urfa Parnell McLaurin and Lucille Stewart McLaurin. After graduating from Durham High School and joining the United States Navy, he attended Campbell College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was married for 63 years to Gwendolyn Stafford McLaurin who passed away in 2015. He is survived by his sons, Stewart Douglas McLaurin of Arlington, Virginia and Jeffrey Scott McLaurin of Foley, Alabama; granddaughters, Virginia Grier Noyes and Lucy Scott Tidwell, both of Pensacola, FL and Martha Caroline McLaurin of Gulf Shores, AL. He was thrilled to have lived to know of his great grandson, Stephen Jackman Noyes, Jr. Until his death, he was very proud of his service in the United States Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea and his career working with the Colgate Palmolive Company, the C. F. Sauer Company, and several Alabama trade associations. He was a longtime member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham and a member of the Grace Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Foley. The family requests contributions be made in his memory to The Elizabeth Dole Foundation, 600 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20037. Private services will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL.
