Sue Neff Vosloh was born in Hugaton, KS on 7/19/1943. With her family by her side, Sue passed away Friday, March 7th, after a surgical procedure. She is preceded by her mother (Berniece Neff), her father (Nolen Neff), and her two brothers (Galen and Dean). She grew up in the Southwestern part of the US, eventually settling in Albuquerque, NM, where she graduated from Valley High School. She acquired a real love of Indian artifacts from the Southwest.
She started her working career at the local utility company in Albuquerque, later moving to San Francisco, where she began a 22 year career working for Pacific Gas and Electric. It was there that she met her future husband, David Vosloh, at the time a Commander in the Navy Medical Department. David brought two young children into her life. At the time she first met them, Caroline was 12 and Brian was 10. She became a loving and caring part-time step-mother. She followed him to Philadelphia, where she finished her college education at Temple University. They retired in 1991 and moved to Evergreen, CO where they built a beautiful home. After some bad experiences with black ice, they moved to Foley where she lived the last 27 years of her life. Besides David in Foley, local relatives in the area include Dot Vosloh, Tim and Debbie Vosloh, and Brooke (Vosloh) and Maverick Latour
While in Foley she became quite involved with the Community Bible Study, becoming a teacher and leader. She rekindled her relationship with God and was happy to share her beliefs with other women. On the morning of her surgery, she told David that she expected everything to go right, but if it didn’t, it was OK to let her go to be with her maker. Now she is riding the clouds in Heaven on one of the quilts she made.
When she wasn’t busy helping David in real estate construction or participating in Bible study events, she loved crafting beautiful quilts. She was an excellent baker and food chef; especially known for her cookies, breakfast breads, and spaghetti sauce. They traveled the world by car, plane and RV, including driving to Alaska by RV twice. Her dogs were attached to her by Velcro: Blumshein, Maxine, Jenna and Foley , one after the other, were always by her side.
She joined David in giving back to the Foley community. Together they created the non-profit Vosloh Charitable Foundation. Sue was so proud of being able to help recognize and award the Teachers of the Year at six schools in Foley plus the Fireman and Policeman of the Year in Foley. Additionally, she fostered the establishment of two substantial scholarships for Foley High School graduates to attend four years of college in Alabama. Anyone wishing to donate to their foundation can do so tax free and support the educational system in Foley.
A memorial service will be held at St Andrew by the Sea Church on Fort Morgan Road at 10 AM on Saturday, April 5th. Refreshments will be provided afterwards. Come join her celebration of life and feel her connection to God.
