GOODHART Shirley Joan Goodhart passed away peacefully, October 30th, at her home in Foley, Alabama. She had just had her 83rd birthday party. A native of Boulder, Colorado, Shirley (Holliday) earned a business degree in Denver, received a proposal for marriage, and soon made it her business to give new definition to the art of Motherhood. A perfectionist at heart, Shirley loved every detail of the cooking, baking, housekeeping and child rearing that she performed with extra special touches. Her creativity was displayed in the matching outfits sewn for her daughters, Barbie Doll Clothes designed for the dolls, costumes for recitals, a Girl Scout “Daisy Chain” flag sewn for the troop, majorette uniforms for her twirling girls, and was her drumming son’s biggest fan. She was not just a guiding light; she played a major part in facets of her children’s lives. She was simply the Perfect Mother. Later Shirley returned to the business world and quickly advanced into management and served as the Executive Director of the Board of Realtors in Colorado; the Executive Director of the Board of Realtors of Delray Beach, Florida; and the Executive Director of the Board of Realtors of Montgomery, Alabama. Preceded in death by her parents Olive Irene Bailey and William Holliday, granddaughter; Crystal Rose Sloan and grandson Christopher James Tatum. Shirley is survived by her daughters; Norma Joan Jacobs of Montgomery, Alabama, Gloria Mae Shields of Foley, Alabama, sons ;Scott LaMantia of Knoxville, Tennessee, Kent Garroute of Alabama, sister; Bonnie Lou Arroyo of Elmer City, Washington, two grandsons, four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and fifteen nieces and nephews.
