Sharon Kay Allen

Sharon Allen, age 78, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, and formerly of Petersburg, Illinois, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 18, 2022.

She was born at home in Cass County Illinois August 31, 1943. Her parents were Howard “Mike” and Bernadine Severns. Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Stephen Allen on June 17, 1961. Sharon loved her family very much, and she loved life. She was a farm wife and drove grain trucks and was farm bookkeeper. Later she worked for State of Illinois Department of Agriculture, State of Illinois Department of Revenue, and the Illinois State Board of Education. She was a member of First Baptist Fairhope, Eastern Shore Republican Women, Newcomers of Eastern Shore, Friends of Fairhope Library, Alabama Chapter 23 IHC Collectors, and South Alabama Antique Tractor and Engine Club. Her hobbies were Mexican Train Dominoes, Bunco, traveling, antiquing, painting, reading, and enjoying nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents Howard “Mike” and Bernadine Severns; sisters, Beverly “Jo” Claussen and Joyce Snyder Smith; and brother, William “Bill” Severns.

She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Allen; sons, Dale Allen of Springfield, IL, Tracy (Satu) Allen of Petersburg, IL; daughter Jo (Chris) Higgerson of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Stephanie (Melvin) Pierce, Jessica Higgerson, Hannaliisa Allen, Johannes Allen, and Anna (Monte) Chastain; brothers, Russell (Angie) Severns of Fairhope, AL, and Robert (Bev) Severns of Chandlerville, IL.; many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Fairhope on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. A Celebration of Life will be held in Petersburg, Illinois, at a later date.
