Galloney Daphne, AL On Friday evening January 31, our sweet Suzanne passed away at the age of 52. A native of Mobile, Suzanne attended local schools until she left home to study at the Alabama School of Fine Arts with Sonia Arova and Thor Sutowski. In 1984, she received a summer scholarship to the School of American Ballet in New York and in 1985 was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Program Carlisle Choreography. In 1985 Suzanne received the Prix D’Excellence de Danse from the Alabama School of Fine Arts, and a Merit Award from the National Foundation Advancement in the Arts Recognition Talent Search. Suzanne performed with the State of Alabama Ballet, the Hartford Ballet, the Ohio Ballet, the Lake Erie Ballet, toured with Sesame Street Live, was a member of the Mobile Ballet, and a faculty member of the Mobile Ballet Dance Center. Suzanne was a guest choreographer with Eastern Shore Dance Academy from 2000-2001 and was an instructor for ESDA since 2002. Suzanne’s influence as a ballet teacher went beyond ballet combinations; she helped her students find self-confidence, discipline, and most importantly, the joy of dance. Always curious and sincerely interested in others, she never met a stranger. People could not help but respond to her cheerful spirit and open heart. She had an innate ability to grow orchids, loved puzzles, and had a magical way with children and animals. She loved kayaking, paddle boarding, and walking on the beach. Her Lucille Ball–like sense of humor endeared her to her yoga teacher training class. To Suzanne, the simplest things were extraordinary. She is survived by her parents LeRoy and Annette Hall, her sisters Catherine Kiser (Will) and Lisa Compton (Hunter), her niece Gigi Pate, nephew Banks Compton, her aunt Lucile Bedford, several loving cousins, her life-partner Jim Landis, as well as Jim’s daughters and grandchildren whom she considered her family. She was predeceased by her aunt Helen Silvernail. A celebration of life service will be held at 5 Rivers Delta Hall, Sunday, February 9th, starting at 5:00 PM with a reception to follow. Flowers may be sent to: Mr. & Mrs. Hall, 6378 Jackson’s Oak Drive, Daphne, AL, 36532. Two scholarship funds have been established to honor Suzanne’s life and passion.
