Sarah Druhan Davis, age 88, a native of Mobile and resident of Point Clear, died surrounded by family and friends on Monday, October 23, 2023. She graduated from Bishop Toolen High School and attended Maryville University and the University of Alabama where she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After college, Sarah became an active volunteer serving as Chairman of Recipe Jubilee, President of the Junior League of Mobile, and Chairman of the Junior Leagues of the Southeast. She was also a member of several mystic societies. In 1978, Sarah married John Bankhead Davis and moved to Birmingham where she lived for 23 years and was known for her entertaining and culinary skills. Sarah and John were founding members of Mountain Brook Community Church, and Sarah was instrumental in starting Community Bible Study there and then again on the Eastern Shore. She spent almost half of her life as a beloved grandmother, known to all as “Nan” and was extraordinarily active with her great grandchildren. In 1997, she and John returned to the Gulf Coast and retired in Point Clear on Mobile Bay. Sarah continued to constantly entertain her multitude of friends and lead Bible Studies weekly until her death. Sarah was predeceased by her parents, Kathleen Hatcher and “Gee” James Robert Druhan, husband John, sister “Kit” Kathleen Druhan Geil, brothers “Jimmy” James Robert Druhan and John Hatcher Druhan, and the father of her children Selwyn Horace Turner, Jr. She is survived by her four children, Kathleen Turner Kennedy (Jim), Selwyn Horace Turner III (Elizabeth), James Druhan Turner, and Alletta Turner Brown (Stephen); four grandchildren, Whiting Inge Mostellar (Hamp), Margaret Erwin Inge, Alice Turner Frost (Richard) and Selwyn Horace Turner IV (Caroline) and nine great grandchildren. Sarah treasured her relationship with John’s four children, John Bankhead Davis, Jr. (Liza), Lou Ann Davis Barlow (Johnny), Steven Lewis Davis (Lynn) and Louise Bankhead Davis, and their grandchildren John Bankhead Davis III, Brooks Andrew Davis, Grayson Elizabeth Davis, Anna Davis Southern (Andrew), and Hugh Davis Barlow and great grandchild, Cora Southern. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday, October 27, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 370 South Section Street, Fairhope, AL.
