Sammy Reese Nelson

Captain Sammy Reese Nelson, age 72, resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Sammy spent 35 years in the offshore industry as a vessel captain. He was a devoted family man, along with being an avid outdoorsman. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Hartley and Ethel Nelson, Sr., and his siblings. Sammy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Nelson; son, James Nelson (Tori); daughter, Alicia Nelson McKenzie (Tommy); grandchildren, Casey Boyington (Justin), Austin McKenzie (Taylor), Tucker McKenzie, Bryant McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Cole Boyington, Jax Boyington; and many other loving relatives and friends. A Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope from 9:00am until 10:00am. Graveside services will follow at 11:00am at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
