Roy J. Yates

 Roy J. Yates, age 57, of Spanish Fort, AL, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2025.

 Roy was raised in Utica, MS, and graduated from Rebul Academy. After earning his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1989, he began his career at Orleans Furniture Mfg., where he met Laurie, the love of his life and his “everything.” In 1997, Roy transitioned to Standard Furniture Mfg., where he worked in sales, covering the Mississippi and Louisiana territories. His hard work, determination, and love for the industry led him to rise to the position of Senior Vice President, and he also served as Chief Sourcing Officer for IFM in Vietnam. Roy’s leadership, work ethic, and passion for his craft made a lasting impact on the furniture industry.

 Roy and Laurie settled in Clinton, MS, where they raised their family for 20 years before relocating to Spanish Fort, AL, in 2013. Roy loved hosting family and friends at his home. His warm hospitality and generous spirit made every gathering special. Whether it was a casual dinner, a holiday celebration, or a spontaneous get-together, Roy always made sure everyone felt welcome and at ease. His home was a place where memories were made, and his guests were always treated like family.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Roy’s love for his family was boundless. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren, who he adored deeply. Roy was also known for his many talents, including his skill in the kitchen, his passion for photography, and his love of the outdoors. With a brilliant eye for design, he could build or fix just about anything. Roy cherished spontaneous trips with Laurie, always ready for a new adventure. His gift for accomplishing the impossible and his heartfelt prayers touched the lives of all who knew him. Whether offering advice, lending a listening ear, or sharing a meaningful story, Roy made a positive and lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

 Roy’s family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Laurie; their children, Ashley (Jim) Peters, Austin Yates, and Kaitlyn Yates; grandchildren, Mac, Marianna, and Maddie; sisters, Beth Yates and Bonnie Hales (Bryan); and his nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jerome Yates “Jerry” and Billy Lou Yates.

 A visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, AL. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hope Center at 3 Circle Church in Fairhope, AL or Compassion International.
