Roy Wayne Johnson born June 16, 1944 in Anniston, Alabama, passed away August 15, 2024. 

He is proceeded in death by his mother and father Willie and Mary Pearl (Holden-Myers) Johnson, brother and sister-in-law Willie E and Sandra (Parnell) Johnson, sister and brother-in-law Norma Jean and Alan Jernigan. One son, Vandon Scott Johnson. And two great-grandsons, Jackson Everette Langley and Zaxton Michael Thatenhurst.

Roy is survived by his daughters Jeannette (Tony) Brown) of Fairhope, AL, Michelle (Michael Freeman) Thatenhurst of Mobile, AL, and Tammy (Wayne) Boykin of Jacksonville, FL. Grandchildren Michael, Jessica, Zachary, Rebecca, Stephanie, Heather, Amber, Kelty, Shay, Andrew, Faye, Shane and Christina. As well as 28 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war as artillery specialist, and was honorably discharged receiving medals of Conduct, Rifle, and National Defense. He returned home to Eight Mile, Alabama where he lived and worked throughout Mobile and surrounding communities until his retirement.

His favorite hobby was fishing. He would often say "I don't necessarily have to catch fish; I just enjoy the fishing". As well as any family get-togethers with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roy will be truly missed by all of those that loved him. Until we meet again in that Heavenly home our Lord has prepared for us.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Alabama State Veteran's Cemetery, Spanish Fort, at 10:00am.
