CLIPPER LILLIAN, ALABAMA Roy Lee Clipper, age 86, went to be with his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, January 18, 2019 after a lengthy illness during the previous year. Reared by a single mother, Roy was reared in Elberta, AL where he met and married Marion on August 24, 1950 at the First Baptist church of Elberta. He worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation in both Pensacola and New Orleans before early retirement due to an injury to his back that brought many years of pain and suffering. He was a dedicated father and sought to provide for the well-being of his family. He was a committed Christian, with the highest regard for the Word of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved and supported missionaries throughout his life, often giving sacrificially to their needs. Some of his favorite verses from the Bible are Corinthians2:9, Hebrew 13:14 and Revelations 22:20. He was one of the founders, as well as vice-president of Pensacola Bible Institute where his counsel throughout the years was an asset to many to the students. He served as a deacon and treasurer at several churches in Alabama, Louisiana and Florida. Preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Lois Gathman Clipper and his parents Joseph and Vena Bruhn Clipper. He is survived by his children; Susan (David) McPherson, Daniel (Vickie) Clipper, Rebecca (Tim) Hawkins, Deborah (Russ) Morton, and by his wife, Joy Clipper whom he married on November 15, 2002. Step-Children; Frankie (Lynn) Norwood, Sherrye (Ed) Gilman, Kathye (Bobby) Porter, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held at First Baptist Church of Elberta, 12891 South Main St. Elberta, AL at 2pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 with Rev. Dave McPherson, and the speaker, Dr. Wayne Mund. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 1173 JoJo Rd, Pensacola, FL, 32514 or Gideon’s International. The family wishes to express genuine appreciation to the staff of Specialty Health and Rehab of Pensacola, FL and to all who visited him and supported both he and his family with prayer last year.
