Ronald John Lofaro, age 84, a resident of Orange Beach, AL, passed away peacefully at home, on June 26, 2022.
Ron was born in Queens, NY, to Rocco and Iola Lofaro. A graduate of Xavier HS, he received his Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. After serving as a pilot in the Air Force, he returned to school in New York City, and received Master’s degrees from Queens College, and NYU, and his Ph.D. from NYU. After teaching at the college level for several years, Ron worked for the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Army Research Institute at Ft. Rucker in Enterprise, AL. He later returned to work for the FAA and retired from there in 2004. After his retirement, he taught for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at NAS Pensacola and the US Coast Guard Base in Mobile. He was published more than sixty times in peer-reviewed journals.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann M. Lofaro, his daughter Ann-Marie Lofaro (Michael Scianna) of Milton, NY, and his sister Jacqueline Lofaro (Nathan Liebowitz) of Bronxville, NY. He is survived also by his bother-in-law Randy Merrow and his wife Liz and their children Frank and Samantha, and his nephew Benjamin Cushman and his wife Christina and their children Greyson and Layla.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
