It is with great sadness we announce the death of Ronald DeWayne Davis, 82, of Foley, Alabama, formerly of St. Joseph, Illinois, who died at 4:07 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are being handled by the Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes of Fairhope, Alabama, and his final resting place will be the Memory Gardens of Fairhope, Alabama. Mr. Davis was born June 5, 1941, in Urbana, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ardith Davis. Mr. Davis started working as a newspaper delivery boy in High School and later landed a job at Meadow Gold Ice Cream Plant, where he continued to work for over 30 years. He married LaVerne M. Castle on July 30, 1960, and had two sons, Tim D. Davis, and Jeffrey W. Davis. Mr. Davis was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and to give them the best life possible. He was the little league coach, the Boy Scout leader, and the best father that anyone could ever hope for. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He loved to travel throughout the Continental United States and his family weekend getaways to Lake Mattoon are a still source of many fond memories by numerous friends and relatives even till this day. After his marriage to LaVerne dissolved Mr. Davis moved to Mobile, Alabama, to be with his sister Christine. He became actively involved in being a Civil War reenactor and on November 30, 1991, married Mary Mathews at Fort Gaines, Alabama. Mr. Davis loved Ms. Mary to the very end. Anyone who knew Mr. Davis knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Mr. Davis was predeceased by three sisters Beatrice Johnson, Christine Ferdinandson, Helen Stafford; one brother, William Davis and granddaughter, Megan Davis. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife Mary Davis of Foley, Alabama, two sons Tim D. Davis, his wife Bridget Davis of Magnolia Springs, Alabama, and Jeffrey W. Davis of Theodore, Alabama., five grandchild Michelle Davis of Theodore, Alabama, Jessica McCune, of Vero Beach Florida, Joseph Davis of Texas, Sophia Meier, and Eric Meier of Jacksonville Florida, two great grandchildren plus several Nieces and Nephews, Although Darlene Laughlin of Springfield, Illinois was his Niece, she was raised more as a sister and there has been many a story passed of their lifetime adventures.
