Richard Lee Garner, age 67, a resident of Daphne, passed into eternal life with Jesus as his Savior on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at a local hospital. He was born in Dyer, TN to Herbert and Agnes Garner and then went on to graduate from the University of TN, Knoxville in 1973. He moved to Mobile the same year and had a successful career at Akzo Noble as a chemical engineer. He retired after 30 years in 2003. Richard was a father, husband, grandfather and a member of Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Agnes Garner, his first wife Jane G. Gulley and his sister Sandra Garner. Richard is survived by his present wife, Mary K. Garner; his son, John Richie (Jessica) Garner; his daughter, Melissa Marie (Woody) Woodgate; his grandchildren, Salix, Clay, Ambrosa, Dedsiderata, Madeline Jane and Ethan Wyatt. He is also survived by three step-children, David Michael (Nicole) Johnson, Angela Johnson McNeil and Patrick Alan (Megan) Johnson; three step-grandchildren, Chaseleigh, Kayleigh, Andrew and one on the way, any day now. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. Richard’s family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of service. Interment will follow in Jubilee Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church and Fathers House Church in Daphne.
