Richard (Dick) Hubert Breidenich died at his home in Fairhope, Alabama on July 19, 2019. Dick was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 22, 1937. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Wayne State University. Dick spent the first 15 years of his career as a designer at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren before buying a hardware and lumber yard and moving his family to Lexington, Michigan. Dick was an avid sailor who enjoyed spending summers cruising on Lake Huron with his wife Mary. When they got older, he traded in the sailboat for a 30-foot trawler. In 1999 accompanied by a dog and a cat, he and Mary took the trawler around the Great Lakes, down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers to Fairhope. The following year they returned to Lexington via the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, the Hudson River and the Trent-Severn. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances Breidenich, and his siblings Carl, Franz and Mary Anne Breidenich. He is survived by his daughters, Clare and Kristen, his sister Louise Tucker, and his beloved dog, Maddie. A funeral mass and memorial will be held in Lexington, Michigan in September.
