Richard L. Cink, Master Sergeant USAF (Retired), age 88, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, joining his beloved wife of 62 years, Lorine (Rene) Brown Cink. Born in the farmlands of Iowa, Richard moved to Baldwin County as a youth before joining the United States Air Force and proudly serving for 23 years. A Vietnam War veteran, Richard spent the first half of his military career as a Tail Gunner on the B-52 Bomber before being transferred to the 2nd Mobile Communications Unit. Richard and family were stationed on bases throughout the nation and in Germany, and he was sent to many countries before returning home to Fairhope, Alabama. A farmer at heart, Richard planted gardens and roses wherever he was stationed, and remained a hobby farmer until his death. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorine, grandchild Maddox “Mel” Burts, his great grandchild, Emily Paige Mayzes; his brother Gerald Cink, his sister Joan Cink, and parents Arthur and Henrietta Cink. He is survived by children, Sheila Jones, Rodney Cink, and Sandra (Michael) Godwin; his grandchildren Michael (Caiti) Burts, Ryan (Jessica) Mayzes, Cheyenne Cink, and Hannah, Emily, and Davis Godwin; and his great grandchildren, Madison Burts, Caidence Habermehl, and Jordan and Olivia Mayzes; his sister Janet Covington, and brothers Arnold and Ronald Cink, and many loved nieces and nephews. A brief service with military honors will be held on May 23, 2023, at 10 am, at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
