REV. CLARENCE EDWARD HAGER 1929-2021 Clarence was strong in character as well as an exceptionally caring husband and father. He was an avid sports fan and athlete who played softball into his 70s and golf into his late 80s. A man of God, he taught weekly Bible studies in his home until just weeks before he passed away at 91. He’s survived by his wife, Rachel and their three children (Sandi, Doug, and Holly), his siblings (Charles and Joyce), 9 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Clarence was born on July 19, 1929 in Rices Landing, PA to Charles and Theora Hager. On June 9, 1951, he married Rachel Boyer and they just celebrated 70 wonderful years together. Clarence graduated from St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College) and earned an advanced degree in theology from Nyack College. He was ordained as a minister by The Christian and Missionary Alliance. For 41 years, he served as the senior pastor in C&MA churches across the US. He was a gifted pastor who excelled at building churches—both spiritually as well as the physical structures needed to house the growing congregations that he nurtured. Ever dedicated to the ministry, Clarence and Rachel semi-retired in Foley, AL, where he was the associate pastor of Elberta Alliance Church, now Genesis Church in Gulf Shores. For 15 years, they shared the secrets to their exceptionally long and happy relationship as the Coordinators of the Alliance Marriage Encounter. They were instrumental in expanding this ministry across the nation and even to Côte d’Ivoire, Africa. Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley on Friday, July.16th. A viewing will also be held on July 17 at 9:00 AM at Genesis Church immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM with Dr. Lloyd Stilley, Dr. Don Young, and Dr. Shawn Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Lay Cemetery in Miflin and a meal will be served afterwards at the church to which all are welcome.
