Rev. Joseph "AL" Alfred Yancey

Reverend Al Yancey, a native of Daphne and a resident of Silverhill, passed away, Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, National Guard and was activated during the Berlin Crisis.  Rev. Yancey served as a music and youth director and pastor in numerous Baptist Churches thru out Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. He enjoyed singing duets with numerous family members. Rev. Al, is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nora Yancey of Silverhill; 2 daughters: Rita (James) Hoskins of Excel, Cheryl (Bill) McMann of Robertsdale; 1 son: Stephen Yancey of Silverhill; 1 sister: Norma Chrestman of Daphne; 4 grandchildren: Kristen Chandler of Excel, Allen Chandler of Saraland, Casey Hoskins of Tuscaloosa, Jeremy (Kaitlyn) Yancey of Stevenson; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services for Rev. Al will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Silverhill Baptist Church.  His family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until time of service. Interment will follow in Daphne Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Fund.
