Mrs. Rebecca Payne Bonner, fourth daughter and child of the late Deacon Luke Payne Sr. and Evelyn Coleman Payne that was born June 6, 1914 in Nokomis, Alabama (her family migrated to the Fairhope community in the early 1900’s). At an early age, she professed her Faith in Jesus Christ and joined Mt. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Nokomis, AL. After migrating to Fairhope, her family started having Bible study in their home (a decision was made to form a church, which is the current Christian Valley Baptist Church in Fairhope, AL). She was a devoted member; choir member and she has served in various capacities in the church; until her transition she was the Mother of the Church. Rev. Anderson Bonner and Rebecca Payne was united in marriage on February 16, 1946 (they were married until his transition on December 3, 2005 (he was a Deacon at Christian Valley Baptist Church, later was then called to minister the gospel, where he served as pastor of St. Mary Baptist Church, Hurricane, AL and Antioch Baptist Church, Atmore/ #2 in Freemanville), AL. Mrs. Rebecca Bonner served as First Lady. Later they returned to their HOME CHURCH /Rev. Bonner was the Associate Pastor at Christian Valley Baptist Church. Their son, Mr. Milton Bonner preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her parents and her nine siblings (in birth order): Georgia Coleman Dacus Washington, Kathie Payne Smith, Clara Payne, Luke Payne Jr., Joesph Payne, Robert Lee Payne, Septer” CP” Payne, Alphonse Payne, Sr., and Evelyn Payne. She leaves to Love; niece/daughter, Mrs. Esther Morgan of Cleveland; Ohio, stepson, George McDaniel of Birmingham, AL; sister-in law, Mrs. Josephine Chestnut of Detroit, Michigan; God-daughter, Darlene (Donald) Matt of Daphne, AL; Step-granddaughter, Mrs. Shirley Partain, Camden, AL; Devoted Niece Mrs. Oliva Evelyn Payne-Tinson of Los Angeles, California; niece Mrs. Ethel (John) Kinnerson of Selma, AL and Great Niece in Law, Mrs, Sebrena Brazelton Williams. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her grandchildren’s, great grandchildren’s, great great grandchildren’s, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, great-great-great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Valley Baptist Church in Fairhope. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service time.
