Randy Earl Thomas, of San Jose, Illinois, passed away March 25, 2022, at South Baldwin Freestanding ER in Gulf Shores, AL. Randy was born on August 13, 1951, to L. Eileen and Carl Lee Thomas. They preceded him in death, along with his wife of 50 years, Nancy Jo Thomas, and one granddaughter, Tressa Harmon. He is survived by his loving friend, Kris Ballinger. He is also survived by one sister, Judy Herrman, of Manito, and one brother, Aaron Thomas, of Manito. Also surviving are his 10 children, Angella (Steve) Eldridge of Pekin, Heather Thomas of San Jose, Chris (Brandi) Thomas of Pekin, Ryan (Heather) Thomas of Pekin, Nicole (Jeff) Schaffrin of Metamora, Joseph (Jen) Thomas of Spring Lake, Seth (Breanne) Thomas of Spring Lake, Dustin (Julia) Thomas of San Jose, Ashley (Gary) France of Metamora, and Dylan (Rachelle) Thomas of Green Valley. He was also the best “Poppy” to 36 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Randy spent most of his life as a body man. After retirement, he enjoyed working part time as a school bus driver, most recently driving for Midwest Central. He enjoyed doing anything and everything with his kids and grandkids, whether it was working on cars or watching a NASCAR race. He will forever be remembered as “World’s Best Dad/Pop” and our “Forever Hero”. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
