Randy Harold Bishop, 62, departed this life on July 4, 2021, at home surrounded by his family, after a battle with a chronic illness. He was proceeded in death by his brother Mike Bishop, son Blake Bauer, and his granddaughter Blakely Houston.
Randy was born on October 1, 1958, in Bay Minette, AL, to the late Joseph Bishop, Sr. (Bobby Jean). He and his four siblings grew up in Bay Minette, Alabama, where he graduated from Baldwin County High School in 1977. Randy lived a life of service and is best known for his many years serving as a law enforcement officer in Baldwin County. In 1989, Randy began working for the Daphne Police Department, where he completed 17 years of service and ultimately promoted to the position of Captain. He then concluded his law enforcement career in Foley, AL where he served 8 years and retired as the Deputy Chief of Police. Throughout his life, Randy was devoted to his faith, family, and friendships. He made friends wherever he went and was best known for being an excellent listener. Randy served everyone he met, showed humility rather than brandishing authority, and genuinely loved people.
Randy leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Tracy, and their five children and nine beautiful and talented grandchildren: Malia Bishop (Brian Jarvis), of Mobile, Alabama; Nelson (Abby) Bauer, and their children Baylee Grace and Will, of Orange Beach, Alabama; Amy (Will) Houston, and their children Josie and Chip, of Columbia, Mississippi; Amanda (Nathan) Haddock, and their children Cameron, Cayden, Lawson, Nathan and Evelyn of Daphne, Alabama. He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Bishop, Jr. and Thomas Bishop and his sister, Cathy Jean Johnson, many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Randy's life will be held at City Hope Church in Foley on Saturday, July 17, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Randy’s memory to Running for Heros @ Running 4 Heroes
