R. T. “Tom” Parks, Jr., a native of Kentucky, and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama since 1958, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022. He was born in Bellvue, Kentucky on March 7, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Raymond T. Parks and Margaret Parks, and his sister, Mary Louise Machlan. He graduated from Collinwood High School in Cleveland, Ohio, attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Louisville. Later he received his graduate degree in banking from LSU. After serving as a pilot in the U.S.A.F. for four years, he then went into banking. After 42, years, he retired from banking. Tom was president of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, president of the Fairhope Lions, president of Tri-State Chapter of B.A.I. and served on the Board of Directors for Thomas Hospital. In banking, he was on the Board of Baldwin National Bank and served as president over two years. He retired from AmSouth Bank and served on Citizens Bank Board and also was an Executive Vice President. Tom also worked at American National Bank and First National Bank of Fairhope. He was a faithful member of the Fairhope Christian Church since 1958. Tom served in many capacities among them, being Chairman of the Board, Trustees, Elders, Deacons and various committees. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Frances Parks; two sons, Tom Parks, III (Destiny), Keith D. Parks (Leigh), five grandchildren, Chandler (Adam), Tommy, Laurin (Chris), Chris, and Stuart; niece, Marki (Robert), and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at the Fairhope Christian Church on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be after the service.
