R. J. Houston

R.J.  Houston was born December 25, 1925 to Velma Law and Mel Houston.  He departed this life on Oct 10, 2019 at his residence. He met and married the love of his life, Augustine “Flency” Wilson, this union was blessed with nine children.  He attended Anna T. Jean School and enlisted into the US Navy, a proud World War II Veteran. He worked at Poser’s Printing Company for many, many years until retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Augustine Wilson Houston, parents, Mel Houston and Velma Law, one grandson, Issac Houston, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory nine children: a devoted daughter, Ella Houston, Fairhope, Alabama, R. J. (Julie) Houston, Los Angeles, California, Mike Houston, Fairhope, Alabama, Mary (Thomas) Freeman, Leighton, Alabama, Robert (Linda) Houston, Chicago, Illinois, Wilbert (Charsetta) Houston, Fairhope, Alabama, Helen (Marvin) Hall, Daphne, Alabama, Issac (Wanda) Houston, Fairhope, Alabama, Darrin (Amanda) Houston, Fairhope, Alabama; one sister, Ethel Sanders, Fairhope, Alabama; very special nephew, Anthony (Rose) Wilson; 31 grandchildren, 45 Great-grandchildren; 20 Great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Visitation will begin at 9:00 until service time.
