Philip George Robillard, age 97, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairhope, Alabama on November 28, 2021. Being a devout Believer in Christ, he is now beside his Lord and Savior Jesus. He was born in Minnesota and moved to Los Angeles with his family as a young man. Phil served his country in World War II, a member of the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division serving in combat in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He met his first wife, Andree, in Marseilles, France returning with her to Los Angeles. In the seventies Phil moved to West Virginia where he met his current wife, Mary, and while living in Charleston he was very involved in church, school, and community activities. Phil and Mary escaped the cold weather and spent many winters in Eustis, Florida before moving to Fairhope, Alabama in 2017. Phil never met a stranger and was immediately endeared to everyone he encountered. His charisma and birthday songs will be missed. Despite many health challenges that began in his sixties Phil amazingly persevered to be present for many milestones always inspiring his family. No doubt he will be present in spirit for upcoming weddings, births, and other special occasions. Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Inga Robillard, Mary’s parents, Clair and Mary Givens, his sister LaDonna Svetina, his sister Penny Cox, his brother Lowell Robillard and his first wife Andree Robillard. Phil is survived by his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Mary Margaret Givens Robillard, his brother Danie Robillard in California, his children with Andree who reside in California, Suzanne Borrego (Fidel), Philip Robillard III (Tana) and Michelle Smith (Bob) and Julie Beck (Tom Keresztes) in New Jersey, and his children with Mary, Kelly Dawson in West Virginia, and Lynn McConnell (Vince) in Fairhope. Phil is also survived by: four grandchildren in Alabama, Dr. Christopher Ives, Jr. (Stephanie), Philip Graham Ives (his namesake), MaryClair Mitchell Ives, and Jackson Daniel Ives, as well as by their father, Dr. Christopher Ives; two grandchildren in West Virginia, Kenneth Adam Bush (Tracy) and Dr. Chad Michael Bush (Shayna); and five grandchildren in California, Michael Brees (Anna), Melissa Tassone (Chance), Joel Smith, Justin Robillard (Helene) and Jonathan Robillard (Marina). Phil was so very proud of eleven, and soon to be twelve, great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank his devoted caregivers, Annette, Kim, and the entire Comfort Care Hospice team, who made his last months so fulfilling. While Phil always complained about Mary’s adoption of stray cats he actually loved them as much as she did and would certainly appreciate any donation in his memory to the Baldwin Humane Society, P.O. Box 206, Fairhope, Alabama 36533 or at www.BaldwinHumane.org to help the fur babies that Mary cannot. A service with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. on December 22, 2021, at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
