Peter Joseph Palughi Jr., age 56, succumbed to a long illness on November 3, 2023. He was a native of Mobile, born on September 9th, 1967 to Cynthia (Rumpanos) Palughi and Peter. J. Palughi Sr. Peter graduated from McGill-Toolen and the University of South Alabama. He earned his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law Oklahoma but returned to Mobile to practice law for many years. In another life, Peter would have been a sailor. His love of sailing was well known, having been taught to sail a Sunfish at an early age. He liked nothing more than being out on the water experiencing the wind and spray of the water on his face. Once, he was caught in a storm on Mobile Bay in a fierce thunderstorm, but Peter was fearless. He was very generous and had an easy laugh that matched his easygoing personality. He loved to read, and perhaps got his love of adventure from books. Peter is survived by his daughter, Emma. He also leaves behind his sisters, Amy La Palme (Andre) and Holly, and his brother, David, as well as nieces, India and Sophia, and nephews, Fabian and Alex, and maternal aunts, Candice Sturdivant (John) and Constance Tew. Special thanks to Peter’s close friend, Mitch Shapiro, who remained a true and loving friend until the end. Both his parents are predeceased. We commend his spirit to God’s love. May he be granted perpetual peace and let God’s perpetual love shine upon him. .Peter Josep Fittingly, his ashes will be scattered on his beloved Mobile Bay. A celebration of life ceremony will be held privately.
